If you are in your office now looking around look a bit closer at the socket on the wall MK give a clear indication of what is known as a dual earth socket for computer installations ( see the picture and look at the switches they are on the outside of the socket this indicates dual earth sockets). The idea behind a dual earth is because computers have a large earth leakage so regulation 607 from BS7671 IEE wiring regulations requires this method of installation When installing sockets this way two earth connections are required at the distribution board and preferably an RCD (residual current device like you use at home for the lawn mower for example) or an RCBO ( this is like a fuse with the RCD built in)
